What same day can honestly mean
We offer same-day appointments when available. That means we will try to schedule you the day you call, but it depends on the call volume, the weather and what the boiler needs. We do not promise an arrival time, and no honest company can before diagnosing.
Many boiler faults are repaired during the first visit. Others need a part that must be ordered. Our boiler repair team will tell you which case you are in after looking at the unit.
To help us plan, have the make and model ready, which is usually on a label on the boiler. Also tell us whether it heats radiators, baseboards or in-floor loops, and whether you also get hot water from it. These details let us think about parts before we arrive, which raises the chance of finishing in one visit without promising it.
| Problem | Often fixable same day? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Low pressure | Often | May need a refill or a leak check |
| Thermostat or control fault | Often | Depends on the part |
| Pump or circulator failure | Sometimes | Common sizes may be on the truck |
| Ignition or flame sensor fault | Often | Cleaning or replacing a sensor |
| Leaking boiler body | Rarely | Often means replacement |
| Cracked heat exchanger | No | Unit may need to stay off |
| Gas smell | Not until safe | Utility and 911 first |
Before you call: a safety list
- If you smell gas, leave on foot, then call South Jersey Gas at 1-800-582-7060 or 911. Do not switch lights or use phones inside.
- If you hear banging, see steam or find water pooling around the boiler, shut off power at the switch and call.
- Check for a carbon monoxide alarm that is sounding. If it is, leave and call 911.
- Do not relight a pilot repeatedly. If it will not stay lit, stop.
- Do not open the boiler's sealed parts or remove covers.
A boiler with a gas smell, a CO alarm or visible fire damage is not a repair call first. It is a safety call first.
Local note
Local note: winter demand and snow
Atlantic City's seasonal snowfall from November through April typically runs 12 to 18 in, according to NOAA normals for the airport, and the record low is -11 F.
What that means for you: boiler calls cluster in cold snaps, and snow can block vent terminations or drift over outdoor equipment. Clear vents, and book a tune-up in the fall rather than waiting for the first freeze.
What to check first, in order
- Is the thermostat set to heat, with a temperature above the room reading?
- Is the boiler's power switch on, and is the breaker still on?
- Is the pressure gauge in the normal range printed on the boiler, usually a little above the low mark when cold?
- Is the fuel supply on, with oil in the tank or the gas valve open?
- Are any vents blocked by snow, leaves or debris outside?
- Is there a fault code or blinking light? Write it down.
These checks take minutes, and they save a visit if the cause is simple. If the boiler is still dead, tell us what you saw.
Do not bleed radiators or add water to the boiler unless you know how. Overfilling raises pressure and can open the relief valve. If the gauge reads far above normal, shut the boiler off and call, because a stuck fill valve can keep adding water on its own.

Factors that decide same-day completion
The fault
Simple controls and sensors are quicker than a failed heat exchanger or a leaking body.
Parts on hand
Common parts may be available, while model-specific parts may need ordering.
Boiler age and brand
Older or unusual boilers have harder-to-find parts.
Fuel type
Gas, oil and electric boilers have different parts and safety steps.
Weather and schedule
Cold snaps fill the schedule, and travel slows.
Access
A boiler in a cramped basement or closet takes longer to service.
When repair does not make sense
If a boiler is leaking from its body, cracked inside or failing repeatedly, repair may cost more than it is worth. A technician should explain this plainly. Ask about the age, the repair history and what a replacement would involve.
A boiler that cannot be repaired the same day may still get a temporary fix, such as safe shutdown or a space heater plan. Never run a gas oven or grill indoors to heat a room, since it creates a carbon monoxide risk.
A useful question for any technician is what is likely to fail next. A boiler that needed a pump this month and a sensor last winter may be telling you something. Weigh the repair estimate against how many seasons you expect the boiler to last, and ask for the reasoning in plain language rather than a sales pitch.
Costs, insurance and permits
Boiler repair price depends on the part, the labor and how hard the boiler is to reach. We give a clear price before work starts. A worn-out part is upkeep in most policies, so it is rarely a claim. A sudden leak that soaks the basement is a separate question for your insurer.
Replacing a boiler is a bigger job than repairing one, so call your local construction office about permits before you plan it, because the Uniform Construction Code is applied locally and the answer varies. We are licensed and insured, and you can check any plumber's license with the Division of Consumer Affairs.
We serve Galloway Township and Egg Harbor Township as well as Atlantic City. If a leak is flooding your basement, our burst pipe repair page explains what to do first.
Planned service is the cheapest way to avoid an emergency. A fall tune-up lets a technician clean, test and catch worn parts while the schedule is open and the weather is mild. It does not remove the chance of a breakdown, but it moves many problems out of the coldest week of the year.
Quick answers
We offer same-day appointments when available, but cannot promise it. Call early, describe the symptoms, and we will tell you what is possible and whether a part may be needed.
Common causes are thermostat settings, a tripped breaker, low pressure, no fuel or a safety lockout. Check those first. If none apply, a technician needs to inspect the controls.
Not for long. Shut off power and water to it if you can, and call. A leaking boiler can lose pressure, and the leak may worsen. Gas smells require leaving and calling the utility.
Leave the building and call 911. Do not return until the fire department says it is safe. A boiler may be the source, and it should not run until inspected.
It can. Heavy snow may block vent terminations or drift over outdoor equipment. NOAA normals list seasonal snowfall of 12 to 18 in, so clear vents after storms. Our winter boiler tune-ups can catch issues early.
When it is old, leaks from the body or keeps failing. Ask the technician for the repair history and what replacement would involve, then weigh that against how many more seasons you expect from the unit.
